Woodcote Walks by Stilehopper

In 2008, well-known Woodcote resident, Sam Peates, published a series of twelve ‘Woodcote Walks’ in monthly instalments in the Woodcote Correspondent under the pseudonym of ‘Stilehopper.’ Now, with the assistance of a number of other local residents, a book has been published and will be on sale from 4th December 2010.

The 68-page book, has easy-to-follow directions and maps, and contains many colour photos as well as some excellent line drawings. The twelve circular walks all begin and end at Woodcote Village Hall. Informative notes on the local environment, as well as a section on the Greenmoor Ponds were compiled by Woodcote Conservation Group members, John and Sue Sandford, and historical notes by local historian, Vicky Jordan. Local artist, Stephen Hanna, a student at the University of the Arts, Wimbledon, produced the maps and the line drawings with the help of fellow-student, Kayleigh Wilson. Another local resident, Rob Spencer, used his expertise to produce professional quality graphics and layout.

The book will retail at £5 with all proceeds going to local charities. It will make an ideal Christmas gift, especially for those who intend to get fit in the New Year.
